Renaissance on show in Rome

A Choice of sensational, Renaissance wall hangings, recently reinstated to their original resplendence, have gone on show in Rome.The presidential building, the Palazzo del Quirinale, is showing ten, mass tapestries, portion of an original series of 20 commissioned by Cosimo de Medici in 1545. They are on show beside a number of other artworks, principally paintings, projected to evoke the particular and significance of the tapestries. The wall hangings narrate key sequences from the life story of the Old Testament name of Joseph, son of Jacob, including being sold into slavery by his brothers and his time in Pharaoh’s prison. Cosimo de Medici licensed two of the most outstanding artists of his time to design the tapestries, the Mannerists Bronzino and Jacopo Carucci, called Pontormo.

An exhibition, spotlighting  the rising and decline of Villa Adriana, the 2nd-century palace constructed by the Emperor Hadrian, has started in the rests of the building complex east of Rome.Tons of artifacts earlier from the villa and now disjointed in collections around the world, have brought back to the site for the event at Tivoli, around 30 kilometres away from Rome. “We have insured some honored loans of total grandness for this exhibit,” said Lazio Archaeology Superintendent Marina Sapelli Ragni. The event, on show in the artificial grotto of Conopus, proposes visitors to the complex a rare opportunity to look up to many of these artefacts in their original context.

Caravaggio exhibition to open later every weekend until Easter

The Caravaggio exhibition getting the Renaissance master’s top works to Rome will extend its weekend opening hours as demand rises. The exhibition, which features Michelangelo Merisi’s, alias Caravaggio, 24 attested masterpieces, has been collecting record bunches since it opened up last month and is awaited to attract even more, as  organiser Emmanuele Francesco Maria Emanuele sounded out. Emanuele said the exhibition at the Scuderie del Quirinale will remain open until 11,30pm during the upcoming two weekends to match an Easter influx of holidaymakers.
