Don’t forget the Roman Forum! And my favorite, to get away from the city and have a hike and picnic along the Appian Way. Once you get past the catacombs the original ancient roadbed goes on for miles, surrounded by ruins and fields covered with grass and flowers.
Of course one of the best things in Rome is to just wander around the back streets, where you’re definitely going to stumble upon something beautiful and interesting that you’ll remember.

I think you are pretty much on the button with that list.

The Vatican is one of those places you have to see if in Rome and the Trevi Fountain one of my favorites places in Rome, both as an attraction and a place to stay whilst in the city.

I’ve found a way to access convents in Rome. Have a look at monasterystays.com. They are an on-line booking service for monasteries and convents all over Italy but they show 130 monasteries in Rome. They look good and are safe and well located. I’d give their site a visit.

We had a wonderful stay here. The staff were so helpful in organizing our days to get the most out of our time in Rome. The rooms were very clean, location was very convenient. It was only about 3 blocks from the train station, metro and buses. The internet was free and always available, and they went out of there way for us with a bottle of champagne because it was our honeymoon. Best hostel we staying at in two weeks travelling – highly recommended!We had a wonderful stay here. The staff were so helpful in organizing our days to get the most out of our time in Rome. A Gem of a B&B! A real great place to stay in Rome
